• In 2019, presentation of this GroFutures policy brief to the Tanzanian government was picked up by journalists in Tanzania and led to news stories in Tanzania (Tanzania Today in Kiswahili, “Water scarcity breaks up in Iringa Region”) and covered regionally by the Pan African Media Alliance for Climate Change: “Extreme floods to bring good tidings to Tanzania’s capital” and IPS News: “Extreme Floods, the Key to Climate Change Adaptation in Africa’s Drylands”.

• In 2019, publication of this paper in Nature was discussed in The Daily Telegraph (UK) “Countries urged to tap ‘hidden resource’ of groundwater to quench parched cities”, Reuters: “It’s time to look underground for climate resilience in sub-Saharan Africa”, Le Point Afrique: “Réserves d’eau souterraine : l’Afrique subsaharienne pas si mal en point”, and Matin Libre: “Les ressources en eau souterraine du continent Africain résilientes aux changements climatiques”. It was the focus of magazine articles in The Geographical (UK): “Groundwater levels in nine African countries raise hopes for a more resilient future” and Nature: “The future of groundwater in sub-Saharan Africa”.
